Take only what is needed

Avoid overpacking as there is a weight and dimensions limit when checking in for a flight. Think about the specific items you’ll need for your trip and prioritize essentials. Generic personal products can be obtain abroad. Last summer when I was in Puerto Rico, I decided to leave my snorkeling gear at home because it would not make sense to take something that occupies a lot of space if I was only going snorkeling for a few hours. Having planning ahead, I knew that I would be renting a snorkeling gear at the beach I was going to.

Invest in a proper suitcase

When looking for the proper suitcase, esthetics is not as important as weight, durability, and expandability. Make sure your suitcase is suitable for traveling as each airline has a restriction on dimensions. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires that carry-on baggage be stored in a closed and latched storage compartment and that personal items must fit underneath the passenger seat.

Compress your clothes

There are different methods that will help you save space. You can roll your cloths and stack them nearly or you can use a plastic wrap. The more you roll the plastic bag around your cloths the more compressed this will be. You will be amazed at how much space this creates. Additionally, travel cubes will compress cloths and it is as efficient as plastic wrapping your cloths.

Plan to take bulky cloths? Wear them.

Have you seen those viral videos online where a passenger decides to wear his cloths because he does not want to check in another luggage? This works to some extent. Typically, bulky jackets or boots take up a lot of space in your luggage. Consider wearing them instead of packing them.

Use travel size containers.

Toiletries can take up a significant amount of space in your luggage. Instead of carrying full-size bottles, transfer your essentials into travel-sized containers. Also, sometimes it can be convenient to purchase toiletries at your destination.

Optimizing limited luggage space will change the way you travel. By prioritizing your essentials, applying different packing techniques, choosing the right luggage, and staying mindful of size restrictions, you’ll be ready to embark on your next destination with absolute ease.

Prioritize essentials, maximize adventure.
