Places you must visit in Puerto Rico

A beautiful Caribbean island known for its rich culture, stunning beaches, and vibrant atmosphere.

Old San Juan

Wander through the colorful streets of Old San Juan, visit historic forts like El Morro and Castillo de San Cristobal, and immerse yourself in the rich colonial history of the city. Enjoy the night by going to La Placita, a place where locals and tourist mix to dance, drink, and socialize.

Relax on the beaches

Enjoy the beautiful beaches of Puerto Rico, such as Flamenco Beach in Culebra, Playa Sucia in Cabo Rojo, and Luquillo Beach on the northeastern coast. In my last visit to Puerto Rico, I rented a car and drove around the island. It took me around 3 hours to drive from one end to the other. Enjoy the 700 miles of coast line Puerto Rico offers in search of the perfect beach!

El Yunque National Forest

Explore the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System, hike through lush trails, and swim in natural pools beneath waterfalls. The forest is home to a vast array of unique plant and animal species, including the iconic coqui frog. Nature lovers can hike trails that lead to hidden gems such as La Mina Falls and Yokahu Tower. El Yunque National Forest is not only a natural wonder but also a place of tranquility and discovery.

Bioluminescent Bays

These bays, are home to microorganisms known as dinoflagellates that emit a bioluminescent glow when disturbed. When kayaking or swimming in the bioluminescent bays, every movement in the water sets off a radiant display of blue-green sparks, creating a magical and otherworldly experience. This can only be visible in certain days of the week. The closest tour is offered at Bio Bay near Fajardo.

Discover the islands of Vieques and Culebra

Vieques and Culebra are two enchanting islands located off the eastern coast of Puerto Rico. Vieques boasts pristine white-sand beaches, including Playa Flamenco, where turquoise waters meet powdery shores, while its bioluminescent Mosquito Bay provides a nighttime spectacle. Culebra is home to Flamenco Beach, with its crystal-clear waters and coral reefs ideal for snorkeling and diving. Both islands offer a laid-back atmosphere, unspoiled landscapes, making them ideal destinations for relaxation, exploration, and connecting with nature’s wonders.

Note: Tickets for the ferries can be purchased online and are extremely affordable (a few dollars).
