Obtaining a passport in the U.S. can take months if you chose to go about the standard processing time. However, this can change in multiple circumstances. In my case, I was able to obtain a passport within two days.
Prepare for the ultimate hack.
The Passport Embassy will provide an expedited process for U.S. citizens who need to travel in case of emergency. For this, you need to call the Passport Embassy and set up an appointment. They will ask you when your date of travel is. You don’t have a date of travel but are in need of a passport? Continue reading.
Your date of travel must be within two weeks of the appointment. Once you get a date, you will receive a form via email, and will also need to go and get a passport picture (any CVS will usually provide this service).
A day before your appointment, you will need to purchase a flight internationally. Destination is irrelevant, as you will only need to present an itinerary. U.S. airlines have a policy that you can cancel a ticket if purchased within 24 hrs. Once you submit the necessary paperwork to the Passport Embassy on the day of your appointment, you can cancel your flight itinerary at no cost. Within a few business days, you will be able to physically pick up your passport at the Passport Embassy.
That is all.

The cost for expedited processing is 60$ extra. As always, safe travels. Below is the number to the Passport Embassy. The location of the appointment will depend on where you live. As always, happy travels!
